Emerson Rosberg left Lake Henry after a devastating mistake ended her prospects as a competitive skier. Building a life in Los Angeles allowed her to keep the town and its memories at a distance, until her mother's death brings her back to settle affairs and sell the family inn. She intends to leave quickly. Cassie Prescott, a local sporting-goods shop owner recovering from a difficult relationship, gives her a reason to hesitate. Their attraction develops against the history Emerson would prefer to avoid and the doubts of people who remember her earlier life. This homecoming romance explores whether returning to a painful place can create possibilities beyond revisiting the loss that once drove someone away.
