CJ and Paige · Book 2
The story
An old house northeast of Houston becomes the site of a murder that closely resembles a killing from fourteen years earlier. FBI agents CJ Johnston and Paige Riley are assigned to investigate whether the cases are connected. The apparent cold case soon proves less settled than it first appeared, drawing their team into a search for evidence buried beneath time and silence. Away from the official work, CJ and Paige are also trying to keep their relationship private. Maintaining that separation becomes increasingly awkward when the demands of the investigation keep them together. As clues connect past violence with present danger, their partnership must accommodate both professional scrutiny and personal secrecy. Understanding the house’s history means asking questions that someone has had years to avoid answering.
