The Second Mango

Queen Shulamit inherits Perach’s throne while grieving her father and struggling with a body whose needs other people dismiss. She is also painfully isolated as the only lesbian she knows, after the woman she loved disappeared. Meeting Rivka, a warrior who travels disguised as a man, gives her a new source of support. Rivka is straight, so their bond becomes friendship rather than the romance Shulamit first hopes for. Together they leave the palace in search of women who might share the queen’s desires. The journey changes course when they encounter victims of a sorcerer’s cruelty. The opening Mangoverse adventure pairs a young ruler’s search for love with a rescue mission and an affirming cross-orientation friendship.
