A Dead Djinn in Cairo

In an alternate Cairo in 1912, supernatural beings are part of the city’s political and everyday life. Special Investigator Fatma el-Sha’arawi is called to examine what appears to be a djinn’s suicide, but the circumstances suggest something more complicated. Her investigation draws her beyond the initial scene into encounters with ghouls, assassins and beings whose purposes are difficult to read. As the connections emerge, the possible consequences stretch far beyond a single death. This short fantasy mystery introduces Fatma and the Dead Djinn setting through a case that combines detective work, unexpected alliances and a threat to the structure of time itself.
