The Scorpion

Investigative reporter Marty Edwards likes the persistence of cold-case work: old testimony, neglected details, and unanswered questions that might still lead somewhere. Her latest inquiry attracts a different kind of attention when attempts on her life suggest someone wants the past left alone. The Brownsville police assign Detective Kristen Bailey to watch her, an arrangement Marty initially finds more suspicious than reassuring. Leaving town does not end the danger, and the two women are soon moving along the Gulf Coast with little certainty about whom they can trust. Survival requires cooperation, but their growing attraction makes that dependence personal. To uncover what someone is prepared to kill to conceal, Marty and Kristen must first decide whether they can rely on each other.
