Gulf Breeze
2003
The story
Wildlife biologist Carly Cambridge returns to the Texas Gulf Coast determined to restore a threatened stretch of woods and wetlands. A devastating relationship years earlier has left her content to devote herself to conservation instead of romance. Photographer Pat Ryan, reluctantly recruited to the project, finds Carly’s intensity more irritating than appealing. Their work brings frequent arguments, until an early hurricane forces them to focus on protecting the habitat and its birds together. Cooperation reveals possibilities their bickering has concealed, and Carly’s carefully closed heart becomes harder to ignore. Pat has been looking for a woman who could change her life, but accepting that Carly might be that person requires both of them to reconsider their first impressions.
