Sierra City

Chris McKenna takes a search-and-rescue job in Sierra City, welcoming the quiet after Yosemite’s crowds. Jessie Stone returns to the same mountain town for a very different reason: the successful novelist needs to confront a childhood she has spent sixteen years avoiding. Their paths cross within a small community where personal histories remain difficult to escape. Chris has come to admire Annie Stone, a woman Jessie associates with profound hurt, and that difference complicates the attraction developing between them. Neither can understand the other without questioning what she thinks she knows about the town and its people. As old deceptions shape present choices, Chris and Jessie must decide whether a connection built amid unresolved history can offer a place of refuge rather than another reason to withdraw.
