Off The Written Path

Rescue pilot Kai Walker is dependable in a crisis and difficult to know outside one. Keeping relationships brief has helped her avoid the risks of needing someone, even if it has also left her lonely. Eleanor St James arrives on a remote Scottish island hoping for the solitude she needs to write science fiction. She too has become skilled at living alone. Meeting Kai unsettles that carefully protected independence. Against the isolation of island life, the two women must confront the distance they maintain between themselves and other people, and decide whether the attraction drawing them together is worth changing habits that once kept them safe.
