Murder on the Back Roads

Librarian Willa McCourt values the predictable rhythm of delivering books to communities near Washington’s coast. Rookie State Patrol officer Steph Douglas is looking ahead to career advancement, until a local disappearance turns a routine investigation into something more troubling. With little evidence and many guarded neighbours, Steph accepts Willa’s help, using her bookmobile as an unlikely base for the search. The case brings both women into unfamiliar danger and into a growing attraction neither expected. As the possibility of homicide becomes harder to dismiss, their investigation depends on judging which stories to believe. Trusting one another may be essential, even as the secrets surrounding the missing man make trust increasingly difficult.
