A Calculated Risk

Detective Jo Shaw has a satisfying job, good friends, and no desire to complicate her single life. Responding to a young woman's stabbing disrupts that confidence, especially when saving the victim puts Jo's career at risk. The trauma surgeon is Isla Munro, the woman who left her fifteen years earlier without an explanation. With the victim's children missing and the investigation meeting silence in a frightened community, Jo cannot afford to focus only on personal history. She and Isla must work together while confronting the pain of their reunion. This crime novel introduces a detective whose determination to find answers draws her toward dangers that extend beyond a difficult encounter with her former love.
