A Matter of Blood

Detective Chiara Corelli returns from Afghanistan to an undercover assignment investigating corruption within the NYPD. When the officers she has infiltrated demand that she commit murder, she abandons the operation before identifying everyone responsible. Now exposed and widely resented, Corelli needs a partner if she is to remain in active homicide work. P.J. Parker wants that experience, even if working with the department's most unpopular detective is the price. Neither woman begins with much confidence in the arrangement. A brutal murder and the continuing threat from the corrupt officers make cooperation essential. Solving the case means learning whom to trust while Corelli's family remains vulnerable to the people she failed to expose.
