The Witch and the Vampire

Ava and Kaye were close before a vampire attack killed Kaye’s mother and changed Ava into one of the creatures Kaye now trains to destroy. Confined by her own mother, Ava retains witchcraft that makes her valuable and keeps her trapped. A chance to escape sends her into a dangerous forest, where Kaye offers companionship while secretly intending to deliver her to the authorities. Ava hopes their old friendship—and her deeper feelings—might still matter. Their journey forces both girls to confront threats neither can face easily alone. Between monstrous trees, pursuing vampires and family secrets, survival depends on whether they can reconsider the stories that have made them enemies.
