The Three Lives of Cate Kay

Cate Kay's novels have made her famous, but the person behind the name has remained out of sight. No interviews, no public appearances and no easy account of where she came from. Now she is ready to tell a story that success has helped her conceal. Years earlier, she and her closest friend Amanda imagined escaping their difficult homes for California and careers on screen. A tragedy disrupted that plan and set Cate on a path of reinvention. The identities she adopted offered safety and opportunity, but also separated her from people and truths she could not face. Reconstructing that history means confronting the ambitions and relationships with women that shaped her life.
