The Last True Poets of the Sea

Violet Larkin is sent to the Maine town tied to her family’s history while her younger brother receives treatment. Their ancestor survived the shipwreck of the Lyric, but the vessel itself has never been found. Searching for it gives Violet a project that feels like a way to make sense of everything going wrong. Liv, a local amateur historian, becomes her partner in the search and someone Violet cannot stop thinking about. As family history and present-day relationships overlap, the wreck becomes more than an object to locate. Julia Drake’s YA novel follows a bisexual teenager rebuilding connections while confronting the limits of her family’s stories about survival.
