The Iron Phoenix

Nadya Gabori keeps two parts of herself hidden from her conservative family: her extraordinary physical abilities and her feelings for her friend Kesali. By day, she performs the role expected of a dutiful daughter. At night, the rooftops of Storm's Quarry offer somewhere to test the speed and strength she cannot explain. Discovery could mean banishment from her community. Then repeated murders and the approach of a feared storm threaten the island city. Nadya adopts a disguise and uses her gifts to intervene, becoming the figure known as the Iron Phoenix. When Kesali is placed in danger, protecting her friend may demand the very exposure Nadya has worked so hard to avoid.
