The Breath Between Waves

Penelope Fletcher boards the Titanic reluctantly, leaving Scotland and her grandmother behind for her father’s new life in America. Her girlfriend’s sudden engagement has made the journey lonelier still, and her parents expect Penelope to find a husband once they arrive. Sharing a cabin with Ruby Cole changes the voyage. Ruby’s warmth and independence offer companionship, adventure and the possibility of a love Penelope had not expected to find at sea. Both women understand the pressure of family expectations, but neither can easily imagine escaping them. As the crossing brings them closer, they must consider whether their connection belongs only to the journey or could become part of a life they choose for themselves.
