Some Girls Do

Morgan is an athlete who refuses to hide her sexuality, even after discrimination forces her to change schools. Ruby is dealing with a different set of pressures: beauty pageants, family expectations and a private passion for working on cars. When the girls meet, attraction draws them together, but their circumstances have taught them very different lessons about being visible. Morgan wants a relationship she can acknowledge openly; Ruby is not ready to make the same choices. Their romance turns on the distance between those needs. The novel explores first love alongside the uneven costs of coming out, asking how two people can care for each other without having identical paths toward self-acceptance.
