Sodom Road Exit

In the summer of 1990, Starla Mia Martin returns to Crystal Beach carrying university debt, disappointment and the prospect of living with her overbearing mother. The town has lost its amusement park, and its diminished future seems to mirror her own stalled plans. But economic decline and family tension are only the most visible problems waiting for her. Unexplained sounds, fleeting sights and a disturbing presence draw Starla toward the community's unresolved past. Her response is not straightforward fear: desire becomes part of the haunting, complicating her willingness to retreat. This queer supernatural novel follows a homecoming in which personal history and the town's buried traumas become increasingly difficult to separate.
