Old Enough
2023
The story
Sav Henry is beginning to feel more at home in her own life. Newly out as bisexual, she is finding queer friends at college and cautiously moving beyond a disappointing first relationship. News of her childhood best friend Izzie’s engagement interrupts that progress. Their friendship has been strained since an experience involving Izzie’s brother when they were sixteen, and the approaching wedding brings unresolved trauma back into view. Meanwhile, Sav’s feelings for Wes, a classmate in Gender Studies, offer the possibility of being understood differently. Pulled between old loyalties and a community that sees who she is becoming, Sav must decide which relationships can support her future and which ask her to remain someone she has outgrown.
