Fantasy novelist Hannah Taylor retreats to Sapphire Springs after a breakup leaves her struggling to write. She needs solitude and a finished manuscript, not a new job. Yet a visit to Novel Gossip, the local café and bookstore, unexpectedly puts her to work for its owner, George O'Grady. George needs reliable help and has firm rules about dating employees; Hannah is both a welcome solution and a growing distraction. As the summer unfolds, the two women become increasingly important to one another. A hidden writing identity, old relationship wounds, and workplace boundaries complicate a connection that neither planned to find in the middle of an ordinary working day.
