Miranda in Milan

Miranda expected the return from her father’s island to bring a new life. Instead, Milan offers isolation, unexplained hostility and a castle whose residents seem determined to keep her apart from the world. With Prospero increasingly absent and the future she imagined with Ferdinand uncertain, she has little understanding of the family history surrounding her. Dorothea, a servant who treats her with kindness, becomes an essential companion. Their growing intimacy gives Miranda both comfort and a reason to question the rules she has accepted. As the women investigate what the household conceals, the past begins to look less settled than her father has allowed her to believe. This continuation of The Tempest follows Miranda beyond the ending others planned for her.
