The story
Evadne accompanies her younger sister Dorina to Victorian London, expecting to act as a chaperone rather than enter a supernatural conflict. Dorina's fascination with Lady Henry Wotton opens one path into the city, while Evadne's interest in fencing brings her into contact with George Cantrell. His activities extend beyond the practice room to hunting demons, drawing Evadne into a world she did not know existed. The sisters' separate connections begin to place them on different sides of a dangerous divide. Protecting Dorina becomes increasingly difficult when Evadne cannot be certain how deeply her sister is involved, or which assumptions about good and evil deserve her trust.
