Midlife is the Cat's Meow

A disastrous marriage sends a middle-aged mother back to the Maine island she left years ago, with her children and a badly disrupted life in tow. Returning to the family bed-and-breakfast also means returning to a magical community that has not forgotten why she was banished. Her daughters know nothing about her witchcraft, and her own powers have long seemed lost. Then an author staying at the inn dies, a ghost appears, and keeping the supernatural separate from ordinary family life becomes impossible. A motorcycle-riding physician adds another complication: an attraction that makes this supposed retreat feel like a beginning. Solving the mystery now involves family history, returning magic and desires she has never given herself much room to explore.
