Heart of Ice

Widowed finance professional Laurie Emerson has kept her emotional life at a distance from the demands of her Boston career. A blizzard interrupts that control, bringing her together with younger portfolio manager Jack Kennedy for an encounter neither expects to carry into everyday life. The following day reveals a complication they could not safely ignore: their connection now overlaps with a workplace hierarchy. What felt possible in isolation becomes harder to negotiate amid professional expectations and differences in age and experience. Both women must decide whether attraction can become something lasting without pretending those pressures do not exist. Their relationship tests the boundaries Laurie has relied on to keep herself secure.
