Veronica Mallick runs her London surgical department with exacting precision. The arrival of Cassie Taylor, an army surgeon adjusting to civilian life, disrupts that order immediately. As the new head of trauma, Cassie has little interest in bureaucracy or accommodating a colleague she finds rigid and overbearing. Veronica is no more impressed with Cassie’s disregard for the rules. Their clash takes a different direction when troubling financial dealings at St. Sophia’s draw them into a shared investigation. Looking for answers requires cooperation, and cooperation begins to reveal an attraction neither welcomes easily.
