In the Grove, dragons hatch from eggs that grow on trees, sustained by faerie Dreams. The human monarchy has outlawed Dreaming, putting that shared world in danger. Sixteen-year-old Sadie, who is half human and half faerie, uses her mixed heritage to spy on the rulers enforcing the ban. Her work becomes more complicated when a new magistrate arrives. Evelyn is beautiful, compelling and directly responsible for the oppression Sadie is resisting. Falling for her threatens Sadie’s loyalties as well as her safety. There is also a secret Evelyn cannot be allowed to discover: Sadie still has the forbidden ability that the monarchy is determined to destroy.
