Lucky Girl

Seventeen-year-old Fortuna Jane Belleweather has won fifty-eight million dollars. The problem is that she is too young to have bought the winning lottery ticket legally, and claiming the prize could mean losing everything. Money promises an escape from the difficulties at home, but deciding whom to trust with her secret brings its own risks. Her friend Brandon is investigating the mysterious winner, while her ex-boyfriend’s interest in wealth makes him a troubling possibility. As the deadline to claim the money approaches, Fortuna must weigh what she wants against what she could set in motion. This coming-of-age novel explores luck, family and the distance between imagining a new life and knowing how to choose one.
