Lilla the Accidental Witch

Lilla would rather draw and daydream than talk about boys. Spending the summer with her aunt in Italy brings those feelings into sharper focus, especially beside a sister who seems much more comfortable with growing up. Then a mysterious book introduces an entirely different explanation for why Lilla feels unusual: she is a witch. Learning what her powers can do opens a world of strange creatures and unexpected possibilities, but it also brings her within reach of an ancient danger. Eleanor Crewes’s middle-grade graphic novel connects a magical discovery with the quieter work of understanding attraction and identity. To navigate the threats around her, Lilla must begin taking her own feelings seriously.
