Last Exit

At college, Zelda and her friends believed they had discovered enough about the world to change it. Their ability to move beyond familiar reality opened extraordinary possibilities, until a disastrous loss broke the group apart. Ten years later, most have found other lives. Zelda has remained on the road, confronting the darkness they encountered and refusing to treat the past as finished. The prospect of Sal’s return brings their old failure into the present, along with danger that cannot be contained by nostalgia. Travelling through alternate Americas, Zelda must face the distance between youthful certainty and what survival has made of her. Her lost love lies at the heart of a journey through damaged friendships, monsters and unfinished grief.
