Just Girls

Starting college offers Jess Tucker and Ella Ramsey a chance to decide who they want to be among strangers. When gossip turns hostile toward an unidentified trans student, Tucker, who is an out lesbian, claims the label herself to divert the attention. She expects to be able to handle the backlash. Ella, meanwhile, has been finding her footing through new friendships and campus gaming, until a slur left on another student's door makes clear how precarious her own privacy is. Their experiences unfold within the same university, where an act of solidarity has consequences neither can fully predict. Building a life away from home means confronting prejudice as well as discovering whom to trust.
