I Can't Think Straight

Tala is preparing for an elaborate wedding when she meets Leyla, the young British Indian woman dating her best friend. Their backgrounds and temperaments appear to leave little common ground: Tala is outspoken and Palestinian Christian, while Leyla is reserved and Muslim. Yet their connection quickly becomes harder to explain as friendship. Moving between London and the expectations of Middle Eastern high society, the novel follows two women confronting the distance between the lives arranged around them and the lives they want. With Tala's wedding approaching, neither can keep attraction separate from questions of family, faith, loyalty, and the cost of speaking honestly.
