Heart of Gold

Thomasina Miller leaves behind the expectation that she will become a rancher’s wife and heads toward the Klondike gold rush disguised as a man. Calling herself Thomas gives her access to a different kind of freedom, but it also makes secrecy part of every new encounter. Rachel Harkes arrives with her husband Roy, carrying her own hopes into the uncertainty of the journey. When tragedy changes their circumstances, Rachel and Thomasina are drawn into a partnership that becomes increasingly intimate. Attraction develops alongside the practical demands of survival, while Thomasina’s concealed identity threatens the trust between them. Their story begins a historical romance shaped by ambition, loss and the risks of starting over.
