Green Fuse Burning

After her father’s death, Rita is left with questions about his childhood, their family and the Mi’kmaq culture from which she feels disconnected. Her girlfriend Molly secretly submits an application for an artist’s residency, securing Rita a week at a cabin near the place her father grew up. Anger at the deception gives way to curiosity, but the retreat is unsettling from the first night. Strange sounds, evasive locals and visions connected to the surrounding swamp begin to shape Rita’s paintings. As the landscape draws her further in, artistic possibility and danger become difficult to separate. Her search for connection leads into a place where decay and renewal have disturbing meanings.
