13 Bullets

Laura Caxton is a state trooper confronting a threat that official accounts say should no longer exist. When a vampire attack breaks that comforting certainty, she turns to Jameson Arkeley, the FBI agent associated with the earlier battle against the creatures. Arkeley knows that their supposed disappearance was never the whole story. A surviving vampire has remained confined in an asylum, and its plans are reaching beyond those walls. Laura enters an investigation in which experience and ordinary police procedure offer little reassurance. As she and Arkeley pursue the danger, she discovers that her involvement is more than an unfortunate accident: someone has a particular interest in her, and understanding why may be essential to surviving.
