The story
Max Lauren’s professional mistake has cost her more than a prestigious assignment. Covering curling feels like another reminder of how far she has fallen, and she makes little effort to hide her frustration. Callie Mulligan has a different view of the ice. As skipper of an ambitious American team, she believes in her sport and needs the attention that a journalist like Max could bring. Winning Max’s interest begins as a practical necessity, but their time together develops an unexpected warmth. Callie’s optimism challenges Max’s defenses, while attraction complicates the distinction between reporting a story and becoming part of it. As sporting ambitions and public exposure intensify, both women must consider what they are willing to risk for a connection neither initially came looking for.
