Exciting Times

Ava moves from Dublin to Hong Kong and teaches English to wealthy children while trying to establish a life that feels like her own. Her involvement with Julian, a banker, offers comfort and access to a world of money, but little clarity about what she means to him. While he is away, she meets Edith, a local lawyer whose warmth and directness make a different kind of intimacy possible. Ava finds herself drawn toward a relationship she cannot assess in quite the same detached way. Julian's planned return forces the question she has been postponing: whether to keep the arrangements she understands or risk something less predictable with Edith.
