Award-winning actress Valeria Sullivan is tired of the limitations Hollywood places on her career. A difficult television interview helps push her toward a guest teaching position at USC, where she hopes to turn an old interest into a new profession. Her co-professor Maeve Arko is brilliant, attractive and openly unimpressed by Val. Working together gradually changes their relationship, and hostility gives way to affection. Just as Val begins to value her new life, her directorial debut attracts attention.
