Dead Dead Girls

In 1926 Harlem, Louise Lloyd has built a life around her work at Maggie’s Café and nights spent with her girlfriend, Rosa Maria Moreno. She would rather leave the notoriety of surviving an earlier kidnapping behind her. When young Black women begin turning up dead, however, Louise becomes entangled in another investigation. A confrontation with the police leaves her facing a choice between helping solve the murders and risking prison. Following the case pulls her through the neighborhood she knows into dangers she cannot easily avoid. This historical mystery introduces a woman whose hard-won independence is tested by a killer and by the authorities demanding her assistance.
