Frog Music

In the heat of San Francisco’s 1876 summer, French burlesque dancer Blanche Beunon is drawn into the aftermath of a murder. Her friend Jenny Bonnet, an unconventional woman who catches frogs for a living, has been shot, and Blanche needs to understand why. The city is also struggling with smallpox, while Blanche’s concerns about her young son make her own position increasingly precarious. Her investigation returns her to the connections, desires and loyalties that brought Jenny into her life. As she tries to distinguish friendship from manipulation, Blanche must navigate a world in which money and dependence shape intimate relationships as forcefully as affection does.
