Carmilla

Laura lives with her father in an isolated castle, where an unexpected visitor brings welcome companionship. The beautiful Carmilla is affectionate, secretive and strangely familiar, and Laura finds herself drawn to her new guest even when her attentions become unsettling. Disturbing dreams and a mysterious illness begin to interrupt their intimacy, while reports of deaths among nearby young women deepen the unease. As Laura’s health declines, the connection between her visitor and the surrounding danger becomes increasingly difficult to dismiss. This Gothic vampire novella places attraction and fear side by side, following a young woman whose desire for closeness leaves her vulnerable to a presence she cannot fully understand.
