An Education in Malice

Laura Sheridan arrives at Saint Perpetua’s College hoping to prove herself as a poet. Instead, she finds an insular world where talent, influence and desire are difficult to separate. Her fiercest rival is Carmilla, another student who already commands the attention of their exacting poetry professor, De Lafontaine. Competition draws the two young women closer, even as the professor’s fascination with Carmilla creates a dangerous imbalance. Behind the college’s traditions lie secrets involving blood and power. As Laura becomes more deeply entangled with both women, academic ambition gives way to a struggle over intimacy, control and how much she is willing to surrender to belong.
