Zelda McCartney has a job at a fashion magazine, a vampire roommate and a wardrobe that makes the first two arrangements feel almost ideal. Becoming a werebear every month is the part of life that resists careful management. A promising date with her former school crush seems like a welcome improvement, until her boss assigns her to guard a charming fae relative for two weeks. The new responsibility introduces another possible attraction and further complicates her plans. Meanwhile, colleague Janine remains someone Zelda has wanted for much longer than she has admitted. Navigating work, transformation and competing romantic possibilities means considering which version of a satisfying life is actually her own.
