The All-Consuming World

Maya has survived death, but survival has done little to settle the violence and loyalties of her past. Once part of the Dirty Dozen, a notorious criminal crew, she is drawn back toward the people whose last disastrous job tore them apart. A missing comrade and unfinished business offer reasons to reunite, though the years have left deep fractures between them. Their return takes them into a world where powerful artificial intelligences have plans of their own for humanity. Bodies can be repaired or remade; trust is harder to reconstruct. As the crew approaches another dangerous mission, Maya must contend with old attachments, competing agendas and the question of who gets to decide what a life is worth.
