Adijan and Her Genie

Adijan works as a messenger and dreams of turning her efforts into a more secure life with her wife, Shalimar. Money is scarce, and Shalimar’s brother would prefer a far wealthier match for his sister. The arrival of a genie seems to offer exactly the kind of improbable solution Adijan needs. Zobeide, however, is under an enchantment that prevents her from granting wishes. Rather than providing an easy escape from poverty, the encounter gives Adijan another problem to solve. Her hopes for a business and a future with Shalimar become entangled with the task of freeing the genie. What begins as a wish for simple financial security opens into a more troublesome adventure.
