With only four days left in her sophomore year, Ellis ought to be looking forward to summer. Instead, her family's future feels suspended around her father, who has remained in a coma since a construction accident years earlier. Her mother is considering whether to end life support, and their already strained relationship becomes harder to navigate. Ellis's best friend seems unable to recognize how much she is struggling, leaving her increasingly alone with decisions she cannot control. Over these last days of school, unexpected connections offer moments of comfort and possibility.
