Wilder Girls

The girls at Raxter School have spent eighteen months under quarantine, waiting for a cure that has not arrived. The Tox has killed teachers, changed students’ bodies and made the woods beyond their fence dangerous. Hetty survives through her bonds with Byatt and Reese, though affection and desire are not simple comforts inside such a precarious community. When Byatt disappears, staying within the rules becomes impossible. Hetty is willing to leave the school’s limited protection to find her, even if the search exposes her to the infected landscape outside. What she discovers challenges the account the students have been given of their confinement and the people supposedly working to save them.
