When You Least Expect It

Caroline Parker has ambitious plans for her career as a Boston divorce attorney and few illusions about her own romantic luck. Meeting Hannah Dalton on Christmas Eve seems unlikely to change that: Hannah is married to Caroline’s professional rival and appears unavailable in every sense. When Hannah becomes her client, Caroline can at least imagine the satisfaction of winning her case. Over the following months, however, closeness with Hannah and her daughter Abbie begins to mean much more than professional success. The boundaries of the relationship become increasingly difficult to maintain. This slow-building contemporary romance follows Caroline as a familiar job draws her toward a future she had stopped expecting.
