The Daughters of Izdihar

Nehal wants to train her waterweaving and enter the military, but her father’s debts force her into a marriage arranged for financial survival. Her husband is in love with Giorgina, a bookseller whose own elemental powers are difficult to control. Their circumstances differ sharply, yet both women live under laws that deny them meaningful authority over their futures. The Daughters of Izdihar, a movement demanding rights for women, draws them into a shared struggle. Nehal’s attraction to its leader, Malak, adds a personal dimension to her political awakening. As opposition grows and international tensions threaten war, the women must decide how to use the power they possess. Magic, class and collective action shape this Egyptian-inspired fantasy.
