Lady Hotspur
2020
Queens of Innis Lear · Book 2
The story
A rebellion has broken the expected line of succession, leaving Banna Mora to decide whether she will surrender her claim or fight for the throne. Her childhood friend Hal Bolingbrooke is now positioned to inherit, although ruling is far less appealing to Hal than the unruly world where she feels most herself. Between them stands Lady Hotspur, a formidable knight whose loyalties can influence the coming conflict. Personal attachments cannot be separated from political consequences, especially when the people closest to one another may soon become enemies. This Shakespeare-inspired fantasy follows women caught between friendship, desire and inherited obligation. Hal and Hotspur’s relationship is woven into an ensemble struggle over who should hold power and what securing it will cost.
