Edie Eckhart is eleven, funny and ready to start secondary school with her best friend Oscar beside her. Being assigned to different classes was not part of the plan. As Oscar makes new friends and finds new interests, Edie has to work out who she is when their familiar partnership is no longer at the center of every day. An unexpected leading role in the school play opens up talents and relationships she had not imagined, including feelings for another girl. Told through Edie’s diary, this middle-grade story follows the changes that make growing up both unsettling and exciting. Her cerebral palsy is part of her life, alongside ambition, friendship and a growing confidence in herself.
